Top resources for high-achievers
A few months ago I started compiling a list of book recommendations for High-Achievers...
It was full of books that for me had had some incredible ahas. Things that led me to say “damn - every achiever needs to hear this...” It’s just a sampling of the books that each high-achiever should check out and it’s evolving and expanding constantly with each new amazing book I read.
But I realized that I didn’t want to stop at book recommendation...
I wanted to give all of us high-achievers a resource list beyond that. So here it is - a new, ever-evolving resource list to help my fellow high-achieving women find their freedom, ditch their burnout, and start creating lives that actually feel good to live…
In the resource list below, I’ve broken up the resources into categories to make things easier to find. For each resource, I’ll tell you what it is, and why you - as a hig-achiever - need it!
For organization/productivity:
3 of my most recommended resources all in one picture - and I didn’t even plan it! Here, I’ve pictured my TBYT planner, my fave blue blockers, and my Amazon Timer Cube!
Take Back Your Time Planner - This is the only planner you’ll ever find that caters to your high-achieving mentality, but also grounds you in the mindfulness and intention that is going to keep you from burning yourself. It’s the only planner I’ve ever found that incorporates reviews - a crucial practice as a high-achiever - on more than a quarterly basis. This planner incorporates weekly reviews, monthly reviews, and quarterly reviews. It’s going to be key to keeping you on track, and helping your achievement feel good >>
Amazon Timer Cube or Toggl Tracker - If you want to be more effective, I highly recommend tracking your time. We all waste time - and that includes you! But if you’re wanting to be a high-achiever, do all the things with your time, and still have time leftover to live your life, you’re going to have to be more effective. How can you do that? Finding the places in your life and your work where you’re losing time. Using a timer cube or something like Toggl can help you do just that.
Calendly - One of the biggest, most avoidable wastes of time for high-achievers is that back and forth of scheduling things. Whether it’s phone calls, meetings, etc., save yourself the back and forth of scheduling and set up a calendly page. Just send someone your link and they can book a time that works for them and fits in your schedule.
FOR PHYSICAL VITALITY:
Another double-duty photo opp - my Beachbody OnDemand app on my phone (also on iPad, as well as streaming platforms) and my Hydroflash to keep my butt hydrated
Beachbody OnDemand - If you’re someone who has ever struggled to create a consistent workout routine, BOD might be your saving grace. I became an at-home workout convert in 2014. Getting my butt to the gym was always difficult and I was never much of a runner. So, when I found Beachbody and at-home workouts, it changed the game for me. At-home workouts became even easier when BOD launched a few years later. It’s like Netflix for workouts and whatever type of workout you like, this resource has something for you.
Why do you need a workout routine? If you’ve ever felt lethargic, sluggish, or out-of-energy, you need a workout routine to get you out of that. Not only that, but exercise is important for driving your lymph system. The lymph system is crucial for the proper function of your immune system. So, for your body to operate at its best and to fight off any illnesses that could derail you, you need exercise to do that! Here are some other fitness resources here >>
Mini-Trampoline - If you’re working from home or just find yourself sitting for way too long of hours, you need to get a mini-trampoline — or rebounder. This is a great way to help you get on-demand energy and to pump yourself up. It’s hugely important to move your body throughout the day and this is an effective and fun way to do so.
Grounding Mat - Grounding is a practice that I explored in this blog post. Grounding or earthing is the process of using the free electrons from the earth to neutralize the free radicals our body naturally produces to help resolve chronic inflammation. The most common way to do that is to walk around barefoot on the earth. A great way to work around that if you’re in a city or you don’t have accessibility to a nice park you can go walk around in, then using a grounding mat is great! I’ve found that it’s helpful with sleep, relaxation, and more. I put my grounding math under my desk so it’s always accessible for me to benefit from.
For Sleep:
Blue Light Blocking Glasses - This one isn’t just for sleep! Yes, wearing blue light glasses cuts down on the blue light that disrupts your circadian rhythms and messes with your sleep, but it does more than that. For me, it helps with headaches and makes me more focused and productive when I’m working after the sun goes down.
Snooz Sound Machine - If you live anywhere that has background noise at night - a noisy upstairs neighbor, squeaky bed, next to a freeway or parking - having a sound machine that can block out that noise while you sleep is going to be crucial! I personally hate wearing ear plugs and in the winter the last thing I want is a fan blowing on me. This sound machine helps with that!
FOR EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE & SELF-AWARENESS:
Journal Prompts for High-Achievers - Journaling is an under-appreciated, yet highly-beneficial practice for giving you exactly this. Journaling can not only help you get self-aware, but can help you learn about yourself, your tendencies, your mindset, and how well your habits, routines, etc. are serving you. So, let’s dive into some great journal prompts to help you know yourself, grow yourself, and free yourself from burnout. This web-page also includes resources for building a journaling practice and recommended journals…
Book recommendations for High-Achievers - Guaranteed, if you’re a high-achiever, you value growth and personal/professional development. That’s where these book recs come in. I’ve read 50 books a year since 2017. Of all the books I’ve read, these are the ones I’ve found to be the most impactful and powerful for high-achievers specifically. They’ll help you tackle your mindset, find your energy, be more effective, overcome mindset obstacles, and so much more.
For Mindfulness & Spirituality:
Calm - Meditation is a powerful practice for high-achievers. Why? Because as high-achievers, our heads are constantly spinning with thoughts, ideas, to-dos, etc. Meditation gives you a break from those constantly spinning thoughts and gives you a much-needed opportunity to connect with your intuition. I personally love Calm as a starting point for meditation. The guided meditation help you dip your toes into meditation, with gentle nudges and encouragements through the inevitable points of struggle. Highly recommended.
Morning Mindfulness: A 90-Day companion Journal - Having a morning mindfulness practice reinforces your meditation practice. But the added benefit of my “Morning Mindfulness” journal is that it also can help you set your mindset and your intention for the day. I think this is a powerful practice because, too often, we can tackle a to-do list that is haphazard, disorganized, and misaligned with our responsiblities, goals, and mission. This morning mindfulness companion journal can help circumvent those issues!
for your environment:
Diffuse & Humidifier - This might seem like something that isn’t a necessity, but I find that it’s just an incredibly helpful thing for me when I’m starting and ending the day. I have always struggled with turning myself off at the end of the day. The more peaceful I can make my environment, the better! And the diffuser/humidifier helps me do that!
