What does finding CALM mean to YOU?

do you know what calm looks like for you?

Does it mean peace and quiet at home with a hot drink, cuddled under a fuzzy blanket?

Does it mean a chill night in and movie night with someone you love?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Does it mean a quiet walk in nature?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Does it mean quality 1-on-1 time with your favorite humans?

Does it mean being with others or by yourself?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

The last few days, I've been finishing up my Black Friday offer and getting all the things in place for that. And I realized that - as I finalize this offer - it's SO not cookie cutter. None of it - burnout, recreation and fun, calm, etc.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My version of "calm" is time by myself. I’ve been told that that’s ironic considering that I “spend so much time by myself" already. I work at home. I live by myself. But my day-job literally consists of 1-on-1 meetings with students. I literally don’t get paid unless I’m in a meeting with someone. And it’s draining. So, when I’m looking for calm in my life, I’m looking for quiet and solitude.

But, in the same way that my calm is highly personal and unique, so is my "chaos". My chaos? It’s emotional burnout. It’s overwhelm. It’s being too plugged in and even in my disconnection, struggling to disconnect. It’s finding nourishment, not just rejuvenation and self-care. My chaos is a lack of connection as a result of the isolation of my life…and lifestyle.

It’s a hell of a lot of transparency…but it’s the truth!

The #realtalk that we all deal with and need to hear is this: your chaos and your calm cannot be learned from someone else. Cannot be learned from a blog post or a “how to” manual because the truth of the matter is…I cannot tell you what it is.

All of these thigns? They have to be discovered. They have to be uncovered. They have to be revealed…it’s all about self-awareness and trying new things.

I knew I loved the water…but I didn’t know how calming I found a simple walk on the water to be until I had it in my backyard.

I thought I’d hate meditation, but, as soon as I got over the initial hump of resistance, it became one of my favorite ways to give myself calm…and space.

I was spinning my wheels trying to find some way to entertainment myself as these days, weeks, and months spent at home drag on…and I finally found watercoloring.

So, as I wrap this program up and finalize this "Chaos to Calm" class for Black Friday, I want you to know that I KNOW you're unique…

We're all stressed. We're all overwhelmed. We're all struggling and burned out. But the fixes aren't going to be unique for all of us.

Sustainable change never is! And I know that...

So, I guess all there is that’s left to say in closing this short-n-sweet post is this: if you want to find your calm you half to do a few things…

  • Make time for your calm

  • Try new things

  • Don’t do something cookie-cutter. Focus on what works for you

  • Don’t expect figure it out exactly the first time.

Think of it as an experiment to find what gives you peace + quiet, calm in the chaos. It’s an experiment you don’t want to rush. Because as soon as you do figure it out, hot damn, it will be worth it.

t-minus 4-days until my new "Chaos to Calm" class launches…

and I'm so dang excited to get it out to you.
